Jerilderie - A snapshot

Jerilderie is located in southern New South Wales on the Newell Highway - the major route between Melbourne and Brisbane.  The population of the town is 950, with an additional 1000 people living on outlying farms and stations.

Jerilderie is the only town in New South Wales to be visited by Ned Kelly.  Six sites visited by Kelly in 1879 still stand today.  Jerilderie is included in the Ned Kelly Touring Route which is promoted by informative signs at significant sites, brochures and  website www.nedkellytouringroute.com.au The website includespictures and detailed information of sites visited by Kelly and his offsiders during the raid of 1879.

There is a variety of accommodation ranging from motels, cabins, caravan park and a bed & breakfast.  A number of options are available for meals including 3 hotels, 2 roadhouses, cafes, bakery and a licensed club.

Jerilderie boasts quality sporting facilities including 18 hole golf course, swimming pools, tennis courts, bowling greens, turf race track, and a newly equipped gymnasium and stadium.

The Jerilderie Lake is a popular place for waterskiing and general leisure time during the summer months.   There is a walking/cycling track around the lake which takes in views of the Billabong Creek.  Horgan's Walk starts at Luke Park and meanders along the banks of the Billabong Creek and passes many historic sites.
